The Wretched – Solo Play and review

This was an actual play of Chris Bissette’s The Wretched.

The Wretched is a solo-play journaling game in which you take on the playing the surviving member of a salvage ship that was attacked by a hostile lifeform.  The game is played with a 6-sided die, a deck of cards and a ‘tumbling wooden block tower’.  The block tower is optional, but I suggest using one as it adds quite a bit of tension to the game.  I had it set up on my computer desk and was super nervous I would knock it down while recording the audio or typing.

The game also comes with it’s own soundtrack that can be used to supplement the play experience and adds to the ambiance of playing an isolated character with a small chance of survival against the alien or breakdown of the ship.

As a solo-play experience, I highly recommend trying this game.
