Kiaral the Infused – A Dungeon World Monster

We have reached the final boss of our Dungeon World conversion journey through Ragefire Chasm.  Kiaral the Infused is inspired by Lava Guard Gordoth, the final boss of Ragefire Chasm in World of Warcraft.

Kiaral the Infused is a sorcerer who used their own body as a conduit in a foul ritual to pull energy from the elemental planes.  These forces twisted and transformed Kiaral into a hideous hybrid of elements and humanoid.  This infusion of energy gave Kiaral immense strength.

Tips for the GM

Although Kiaral is a sorcerer, they prefer to fight in melee.  Perhaps the infusion of energy disrupted the sorcerer’s ability to control their magic.  Damaging Kiaral may cause them to become enraged.  Have the angry Kiaral destroy everything in sight including the setting itself.  Have the players defy danger to avoid the crumbling environment as Kiaral shakes the ground with their massive staff.  Being a conduit for energies, Kiaral may absorb any magic cast upon them, healing Kiaral or making them stronger.

The Loot

Kiaral’s Conduit Belt A long strip of blessed leather that Kiaral used to contain the energies within their body.  Along the length are stamped runes of an ancient language.  What ancient peoples used such a language?  Could this belt be used to control an elemental?
Kiaral’s Notebook This notebook is filled with the strange and meandering thoughts of the power-hungry Kiaral.  It also includes instructions for the complicated ritual of absorbing energy from dimensional planes. Should this be destroyed? Or will the party look for the highest bidder? Or would a party member be crazy enough to try this?
Kiaral’s Staff A beautiful staff of intertwined obsidian, basalt, and sandstone.  This staff is heavy (3wt, clumsy) and when used in battle allows the bearer to take the best of two damage rolls.

The staff may also be used to create a minor tremor if the user is strong enough.
